Making a difference in the lives of others and in our community is why people volunteer with Hospice. That’s why people keep volunteering with us year after year. Some of our volunteers have been with us for over 20 years. Hospice work is very rewarding and our volunteers often tell us that they feel that they receive more than they give. Volunteering with Hospice enriches lives. Volunteers are truly the Heart of Hospice!
A large number of the people who want to journey with the dying and
the grieving do this work because they, too, have experienced the death
of a loved one and it has changed their lives. Often volunteers say
their life is rich and fulfilled and they feel the desire to “give
back” to the community.
Many of our volunteers work directly with people and families facing
end-of-life issues, but there are also many volunteer opportunities
in Hospice other than directly working with clients or caregivers.
For example, many of our volunteers assist with fundraising, office
work, and serving on the Board of Directors or other committees.

In addition to contributing to our cause, Hospice recognizes that volunteers
also want their experience to be rewarding. Some examples of the benefits
of volunteering include:
Making a difference in people's lives
Networking and friendships
Developing skills and experience
Ongoing education and development
Bringing about social/organizational change
Whatever your skills or interests, there’s a place for you at the Comox Valley Hospice Society.
